Assesses a non-fiction information report on structure and organisation, content accuracy, language features, and presentation.

Criteria

Organises information clearly

ExcellenceReport has a clear general statement, logically sequenced sections with headings, and a concluding statement; the reader can navigate easily.
MeritReport has an introduction, sections, and a conclusion; headings are present though sequencing could be improved.
AchievedReport has an introduction and some sections but structure may be unclear or incomplete.

Includes accurate and relevant content

ExcellenceContent is accurate, detailed, and fully focused on the topic; multiple aspects of the subject are covered.
MeritContent is mostly accurate and relevant with some interesting detail; minor gaps exist.
AchievedSome relevant content is present but it may be brief, inaccurate in places, or partly off-topic.

Uses technical vocabulary and formal language

ExcellenceConsistently uses topic-specific vocabulary accurately; language is formal and appropriate for an information text.
MeritUses some technical vocabulary; language is mostly formal with occasional lapses into informal tone.
AchievedAttempts some topic vocabulary but informal language is common; generic vocabulary is often used.

Applies writing conventions

ExcellenceSpelling (including technical words), punctuation, and paragraphing are consistently accurate.
MeritMost spelling and punctuation are correct; minor errors do not disrupt meaning.
AchievedBasic spelling and punctuation are mostly correct; paragraphing may be inconsistent.
