Criteria
Presents clear and relevant content
ExcellenceContent is thoroughly researched, clearly focused on the topic, and sequenced to build understanding effectively.
MeritContent is relevant and mostly well-organised; minor gaps or tangents may occur.
AchievedKey content is present but may be uneven in depth, or some sections lack relevance.
Not AchievedContent is vague, incomplete, or largely off-topic.
Engages and holds audience attention
ExcellenceSustains audience attention throughout using variety, humour, questions, or other deliberate techniques; eye contact is consistent.
MeritEngages the audience for most of the presentation; eye contact is mostly maintained.
AchievedShows some awareness of the audience (e.g. occasional eye contact or a rhetorical question).
Not AchievedLittle or no audience awareness; reads from notes without looking up.
Uses language and vocabulary effectively
ExcellenceUses precise, topic-specific vocabulary and varied sentence structures; language choices clearly match the audience and purpose.
MeritMostly uses appropriate vocabulary for the context; some effective language choices.
AchievedLanguage is generally appropriate but simple; limited range of vocabulary.
Not AchievedLanguage is unclear, inappropriate for the context, or too informal.
Demonstrates confident delivery
ExcellencePace, volume, and tone are varied for effect; minimal reliance on notes; manages nerves effectively.
MeritPace and volume are mostly appropriate; some variation in tone; notes used but not over-relied on.
AchievedDelivery is adequate but may be monotone, too fast, or too quiet at times.
Not AchievedDelivery significantly impedes understanding; very quiet, rushed, or heavily read from notes.
